I Sewed Patio Cushions!

I realize that sewing has been something big inside of me for a lot of my adult life. My mom (Little One's grammy) was a seamstress; thus, sewing was a part of our lives growing up. She didn't teach us to sew (and none of us were too interested in sewing). Sometime around my early 30s, however, as I got into graphic design, typography and screen printing, I developed an incredible love of working with fabric. Sewing became something that I finally just had to do. My mom clearly saw the inner textile artist in myself and Little One, however, as she wanted to give me her Pfaff Creative 1471. It never made it to us, however; she died before it did. (I later found out my sister hijacked it)

Now, I've had some crappy sewing machines over the years and recently, as I was working on a crappy Singer Prelude (given to me by the same sister), I simply had enough. I went to Facebook Marketplace to find a machine. I found one, gave the seller a heads up that I may come by later -- but first swung by the sewing machine store. "I'd like a machine that can sew through layers of denim and is good for quilting. Does anything like that exist?"
Fifteen minutes after store opening and I had already paid a deposit onto the consigned machine. Two hours later, I returned with my credit card to pay the rest of the machine and bring that baby home. I have been at inner peace ever since... These patio cushions were the first thing I made with my new Janome 8100QDC!
